De Falcó à Pérez Reverte, l’audace comme un outil d’émancipation

Abstract

Based on a psychoanalytical theoretical framework, the article broaches the issue of boldness in Arturo Pérez Reverte’s Falcó trilogy. The conflict between various components of personality releases the hero’s narcissism inherited from his mother, which nurtures his boldness. Consequently, he breaks free from a stifling context of power and challenges it over and over again, as he sees fit, only to fulfil his erotic desires or his ambition. Needless to say, the author is instrumental in the process, both in his creation and in the use of his personal experience.
