Abstract
The aim of this article is to understand the extent to which the words ‛gestalt’ and ‛field’ have contributed to the history of linguistics (thanks to Karl Bühler’s transposition of the psychological concepts of gestalt and ‛field’ to linguistics), and the extent to which, conversely, collective history has removed Bühler’s theory from the history of linguistics for half a century.
